Goodbye 2013!!!

I haven't here in a while, but that's not to say I haven't thought about it. What better occasion than to say Goodbye to 2013? I had a really hard year in 2013. It started in January when I was recovering from ankle surgery and not able to walk on it at all. This of course meant that a better part of the year was breaking in the ankle...seeing how much walking I could take, how much standing, and not really being able to do any hiking or walking around that I normally do. It was depressing because I normally hiked a lot and could withstand walking around for a long time. Aside from the ankle, other health issues popped up, job, no job, job, no job, job, new job it was more tumultuousness than I normally have in 10 years. So with that, I say GOODBYE to 2013. I feel like I only really got through it with my family and friends encouraging me and lending me a shoulder to cry on. I hope I never ever have another year like 2013. Thankfully, 2014 has started off smashingly and I feel really good about where life has led me to.

I was remarking that I think all I really need in life is to be well-fed and warm. To which BigWhat said that if I looked around, it looked like I needed purses and shoes as well. In the midst of my life contemplation. =P

I don't disagree though.

So here's to looking forward to a new year and all the wonderful possibilities that are to come!!!

Last night I had a weird dream. I dreamt that my uncle called me and said that he had a present for me. I go to pick it up and unwrap it and inside is a Mushroom Starter Kit. And for some strange reason, I loved it. I go home and immediately start growing this HUGE black mushroom. Only the mushroom grows like an "O" with a big circle in the middle. And I hug the mushroom and it grows all around me. Then my friend V comes into my living room and says "You are growing that wrong". I think I dreamt that it was growing around me because I was wrapped up completely in my comforter and was quite warm and snug. As for why mushrooms...maybe I'm hungry for some chinese soup?

So weird.

Another Spiral Cowl

I love cowls so I made another Spiral Cowl
Pattern from Ravelry: Spiral Cowl by Keri McKiernan
Yarn: Ming by Artfibers

I think that this is a great and fast project for those who are looking for something to make for X'mas presents. No real sizing needed except to note if it can fit over their head.

To Pom Pom or Not...

I've recently finished the "Little Scallops" hat by Maria Carlander (from Ravelry) and am wondering if it would look better with a pompom...

What do you think? Thanks!

Blink Blink

It's been over a year since I posted to my personal journal! I think I've been mainly posting to the knitting community. I should make it more of a habit to post to this journal, seeing as to how I've had it for years and years.

Leaf Top Baby Hat

I've a lot of friends expecting girls in the coming year so I've decided to them the Berry Baby Hat by Michele Sabatier (pattern from Ravelry)

It's quite simple and fun to make. I'm interested in trying other colors when I've time!

Up Early

So early.

Go Go Mara!

I finally finished the Mara shawl!

So happy. The bind off was making me nervous but I made it with about 3 inches to spare. Whew!

Asian Citron

I started my Citron shawl in October during the trip to Asia. Sadly, I only knitted 10 rows during the entire month long trip...noting that the airplane was not a good place to knit with sock weight yarn.

Yarn: 1 skein of Malabrigo Yarn Sock

I ended up with not enough yarn so I shorted the last section by just going practically straight to the bind off. I wish I had enough for the full section...or maybe even one or two more repeats. I was left with like barely an inch of yarn at the end! I took note of what others on Ravelry had done and used "Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off" to bind off the ruffled edge

I forgot to add this to my other post...I made the Stella beret and I absolutely love it.

I made it with a picot rim instead. This is my first time deviating from a pattern! This is a close up of the rim
